The Silos Restaurant is located on the NSW South Coast, at the Silos Estate vineyards just on the outskirts of picturesque Berry. Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the local vineyard, Silos takes its name from the 80 year old grain silos included in the property, one of which houses the wine cellar. The award winning Silos Restaurant under Manager Robert Salmon demonstrates country cuisine of the highest calibre. The venue is also perfect for functions. The outlook and restaurant, combined with the beautiful grounds and accommodation, provide an ideal special occasion venue – whether that be a country wedding, corporate event or simply a gathering for friends and family.
Choose from the spaciousness of a Spa Suite or a cosy Sitting Room Suite (each with a private verandah where you can enjoy the vista of the vineyard and escarpment) or the ‘Vines’ – the fully restored original farmhouse that offers views to the lower vineyards and escarpment. All rooms come with breakfast supplies for the duration of your stay. Please note that in accordance with Federal and State laws Silos Estate is smoke free. Ted and Ellen Fahey began the farm in 1939 making a living from selling their home grown eggs and vegetables.
Their son Edward Fahey (Ted Jnr) planted the first apple tree in 1952. Ted Jnr continued to grow the business assisted by his wife Ruth. The family purchased additional land in the 1980's bringing the total possible planting area to around 100 acres. The land is very fertile with a climate suited to growing a variety of fruit and vegetables. Clyde River Berry Farm is a pick your own berry farm that specializes in blueberries along with many other types of berries and has been in operation now for over thirty five years.
The Berry Farm provides blueberries for pick-your-own throughout December and January and local farmers markets from November until Christmas. Other berries are grown solely for pick-your-own and are subject to seasonal variation.
Surrounded by a pristine environment, the Clyde River Berry Farm invites you to take a forest drive into the hinterland and to the 'hands on' experience of picking your own berries.
Our Farm Policy
The Clyde Valley's microclimate was chosen as being highly suited to blueberries in particular. Our policy has always been to impact as little as possible on the ecosystem and to co habit with the wildlife. The farm's geographic isolation means that we produce in a healthy, dynamic and biodiverse environment, where the menagerie of birds and insects can work in our favour by keeping populations in balance. We have utilised as many sustainable techniques of production as possible and have a tolerant approach to insect dynamics. We use biological controls when necessary. In these ways we have tried to maintain the integrity of the area whilst producing food commercially.
