Get up close and personal with our native Bees!
10:30 am – 1:30 pm
Mt Tomah Botanic Garden
Join Megan Halcroft PhD to learn about bees and how they drive biodiversity and support food security. While most bees live solitary lives and don’t store honey, they are the world’s most efficient flower pollinators. They are beautiful, diverse and fascinating to watch with about 200 species of native bees calling Sydney and the surrounding regions home. Learn how to encourage many bee species into the garden by conserving or providing nesting habitat.
The Event will commence with a seminar on Native bees followed by a hands-on walk, talk and capture of native bees and other insects. These bees and insects will all be released.
Guests are encouraged to bring a notepad, pens, hat, Sunscreen, reading glasses if required, sturdy shoes and water.
